How does this even happen, why me?
It happens every day! With Intel CPUs and AMD AM5 the pins are not on the processor but sit as over 1000 tiny contact springs in the motherboard socket. The most common accidents: the CPU drops into the open socket while being inserted, a finger or screwdriver gets in, or you catch the springs while cleaning. Either way – incredibly annoying, but not a total loss!
Typical symptoms
- PC won't start at all or shuts down again immediately
- No image despite spinning fans
- Individual RAM slots are not detected (e.g. MemOK/DRAM LED lit)
A single displaced contact spring can cause a short circuit – and in the worst case damage the fitted CPU too. So: never put a CPU into a visibly damaged socket "just to test".
Straighten it yourself – realistic?
A few displaced springs or pins can in individual cases be pushed back with a strong magnifier, plenty of light and a fine tip – there is no guarantee, as they readily break off completely below or just at the fine heads. Once springs are twisted, flattened or broken, the DIY attempt usually ends badly: the contacts are spring-mounted and lose their tension after repeated bending, then they are cracked or on the verge of breaking, and the contact pressure to the CPU is permanently gone.
An extra hurdle with AM5 and the newest Intel sockets: many contact springs are built like a loop – such springs can practically no longer be bent back to shape and break even more easily.
Special case: thermal paste or liquid metal in the socket
Normal paste in the contact field causes contact faults and is hard for a layperson to brush out of the spring rows without bending new pins. Liquid metal is the escalation: it conducts electricity and creeps between the contacts – the board must no longer be switched on. The latter especially is a typical case for professional cleaning or a socket replacement.
Bought a board with bent pins?
With new goods: bend nothing, photograph the condition immediately and file a complaint with the retailer – a recognisable repair attempt jeopardises the refund. With a used purchase via classifieds or eBay: film the socket right when unpacking and contact the seller the same day; the longer you wait, the harder it becomes to prove the damage isn't yours. It will, however, be difficult to claim such damage with a commercial seller.
Do I need a new board?
No, not necessarily. Whether the rescue is worth it is mainly a question of price: especially with expensive, current or no-longer-available boards (e.g. AM5, LGA 1700/1851, LGA 2066, OC sockets) it quickly pays off – all the more so as bent socket pins count as your own fault and neither retailer nor manufacturer pays for them.

Ich hatte den Lötservice bzw. Leiterbahn, weil bei mir mehrere Schichten durch waren. Die Elektronik habe ich selbst hin bekommen, aber kein Equipment für Leiterbahnen. Das wäre mir auch zu fummelig gewesen. Sieht gut aus 😊 Die Grafikkarte lebt wieder 👌 thx

Unser Löt- & Leiterbahn Service umfasst ausschließlich die handwerkliche und mechanische Platinenreparatur auf Bauteilebene. Keine elektronische Fehlersuche, keine Schaltplan-Diagnose, kein BGA-Reballing. Ausgeschlossen: 230V-Geräte, Akku-Geräte, KFZ-Steuergeräte, Medizintechnik, Rauchmelder. Durchtrennte Leiterbahnen werden mittels Kupferlackdraht (Jumper-Wire) überbrückt – funktional zuverlässig, jedoch nicht optisch makellos.
Anzahlung: 29,00 € Brutto zzgl. Rückversandkosten. Restbetrag erst nach erfolgreicher Reparatur. Bei Misserfolg: nur Anzahlung + Rückversand einbehalten.
Widerrufsverzicht (§ 356 Abs. 4 BGB): Mit Annahme des Angebots beginnt die Dienstleistung auf ausdrücklichen Wunsch des Kunden vor Ablauf der Widerrufsfrist. Das Widerrufsrecht erlischt bei vollständiger Erbringung. Rückversandkosten werden in jedem Fall einbehalten.

We only collect personal data to the extent necessary to operate this website, to provide our services — CPU pin repair, motherboard CPU socket repair, micro-soldering & PCB-trace repair, and buyback of defective hardware (EU-wide) — and to fulfil contracts. Legal bases are Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract), Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligation, e.g. retention requirements) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest, e.g. fraud prevention).
3. Server Log Files
When you visit this site, our hosting provider automatically logs data such as date/time, requested page, browser type and a shortened IP address. This data is used for technical operation and security; it is deleted or anonymised within 7 days at the latest.
4. Contact & Order Form
When you contact us via our form or place a repair order, a soldering enquiry or a hardware buyback request, we process — among other data — your name, email address, optionally a phone number, shipping and return address, hardware details, damage description and any photos you upload. For soldering orders we additionally process case-related data for the fixed-price agreement (token ID for the offer and remaining-balance email links, deposit and repair status). For bank-transfer payments we also process the transmitted payment data. This data is used to process your enquiry or order (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). After completion, data is deleted unless statutory retention periods apply (tax law: 10 years; commercial law: 6 years).
5. Reviews
When you submit a review, your name (or chosen display name) and review text will be publicly shown on this site. Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time by email to the address above.
6. Payment Processing
We use PayPal (PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg) and bank transfer. 7. Shipping

8. Hosting
This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place. Data is stored exclusively in EU data centres.
9. Cookies, visitor statistics and reach measurement
Cookies: Technically necessary session cookies are set only during an order and deleted at the end of the session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies or third-party analytics services (e.g. Google Analytics, Matomo).
Own reach measurement: For statistical evaluation of our offering, we collect the following data server-side — without cookies, without local storage and without accessing your device: page accessed, approximate origin based on your browser language setting (Accept-Language header), device type (mobile/tablet/computer), referring website (referrer) and time spent on page. To distinguish repeat visits within one day, we create a short hash from your IP address, browser identifier and the current date. The IP address itself is not stored; the hash is automatically deleted after no more than 24 hours. Identification of individuals is not possible. Data is processed exclusively on our server in the EU and not shared with third parties.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the statistical reach measurement of our own offering). The measurement is exempt from consent under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (formerly TTDSG), as no cookies or comparable storage technologies are used on your device for tracking purposes.
Right to object: You can object to this processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR — an informal email to kontakt@reusing-factory.de is sufficient. Alternatively, you can disable JavaScript in your browser; no measurement will then take place.
